FAQ

  • What are flexible spending and health savings accounts?

Flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA) are programs that allow you to set aside money (before taxes) for specific health care expenses. If you’re unsure whether or not you have an FSA or HSA, please check with your employer or insurance company.

  • What can I purchase with my FSA or HSA?

Cool Frames accepts FSA and HSA dollars for prescription eyewear purchases, which include prescription eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses, progressives, readers, and contact lenses.

  • What are flexible spending and health savings accounts?

Most providers will let you use your FSA or HSA accounts to buy blue light blocking glasses.

  • Are Sunglasses Covered by FSA or HSA?

Only prescription sunglasses are covered by your FSA or HSA.

  • Are Contact Lenses Covered by FSA or HSA?

Contact lenses correct your vision and can be paid for with funds from an FSA or HSA account. This does not include contact lenses that are used for cosmetic purposes only.

  • When is the cut-off for placing an order online with FSA dollars?

If your benefits expire at the end of the year, you have until December 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET to place an order with us using your FSA dollars.

  • Can I split payment between my FSA and a different card?

If you’d like to use your FSA or HSA card to pay for a portion of your purchase, please call us at 888. 293.4755, Mon-Fri, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. ET and Sat 11 a.m.–5 p.m. ET. We are happy to help!

  • How do I get a receipt?

We’ll include an electronic receipt with your shipping confirmation email, and a physical copy with your purchase. A copy of your purchase is also available on your Cool Frames account page.

  • Can I return an order paid for with my FSA or HSA?

All returns must be completed within ten (10) business days of the item being delivered to you and must be returned in their original condition and with any brand documents that may have come with your order. Returns without an exchange are subject to a twenty (20%) percent restocking fee on the cost of a frame under $249.99. Frames priced $250 or more will be subject to a restocking fee of ten (10%) percent.

Unfortunately, prescription lenses cannot be refunded because each lens is specifically cut and shaped by our opticians to fit the frame you selected, and cannot be re-used on any other frame, even by somebody with the same prescription.

We recommend checking with your insurance provider before requesting a refund to an FSA card. Unlike HSA, FSA funds must be used during a defined time period. For some insurance plans, your funds will be forfeited if you request a refund.
